Forum for Business: Big Change Through Personal Transformation

As a certified facilitator and member of Young President’s Organization, or YPO, I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with so many successful founders and CEOs through a process called forum.

Forum has been practiced inside of YPO for over 70 years and is touted over and over again by members as the most valuable aspect of YPO.

The beauty of forum is its simplicity: through a facilitated structure, members of an 8 to 9 person forum get to work through a personal and professional transformation journey, applying peer-driven insights, lowering their own blind spots and learning how to communicate deeply and vulnerably with the people in their lives.

The power of giving people the space and freedom to explore the breadth of their feelings about all aspects of their lives is palpable. Most of us as leaders live inside our problem-solving brains, scanning the environment for threats and taking care of everyone we’re responsible for – except ourselves.

By learning how to communicate better with our families, business partners, kids, friends and spouses more openly and deeply, we create stronger relationships, deeper connections, and more community around ourselves.

This process can be adapted to a business setting, strengthening the skills of you and your leadership team in conflict resolution, problem solving, critical thinking, and self-awareness. The behaviors necessary for a successful forum are the same for any high performing team: active listening, non-judgement, compassion and self-management.

If you want to know more about how the power of forum can transform your business, book a call with us today and we can build a workshop, retreat, or regular cadence of forum meetings in your organization.
